The original board was made by my dad when I arrived back from an overseas trip. He said, ‘look what I’ve made you!” I actually didn’t think much of it before taking it for a surf, but then I was amazed that a board of that size could just hang in the pocket. When nose riding you pretty much have a foot less of board, so you can hang closer to the pocket, so you actually nose ride in a different part of the wave that you would normally on a log. Because its shorter it’s a bit more maneuverable and forgiving. It’s got great trim, great speed. It rides on the nose, it glides on the nose, you can trim and cut back off the tail. It’s easier to duck dive and get through waves. A great in betweener if you haven’t quite got the log down. It’s a great way to get into it!
